Construction Update: Hudson ISD Multi-Purpose Building
Home to the Hornets, Hudson ISD is composed of four schools: Hudson High, Hudson Middle School, Bonner Elementary and Peavy Primary. The high school and middle school are located on the same campus as Hudson ISD's administration building off of Highway 94, with two gyms currently located on the campus. Offering multiple sports such as basketball, softball, cross country, soccer and much more, Hudson ISD has initiated a project to build a new multi-purpose facility to support the needs of the schools in the District.
The new multi-purpose facility will be part of the campus for the use of both high school and middle school students, located between the high school and middle school buildings. As a pre-engineered metal building (PEMB), the facility will be 14,306 sf and is designed to host a multi-purpose gym, and a cheer room. The gym itself will include retractable bleachers capable of seating 240 people. The cheer room will include an observation room for practice and performances as well as a dressing room.
In October 2020, the project returned from bidding under budget for $2.5 M. Construction began in late November and is anticipated to be completed by mid-October of this year. Concrete has been poured and in the next few weeks the frame of the building is expected to be completed. During construction, a wood floor will be installed in the gym and exposed linear metal panels will be placed around the building along with acoustical wall panels.
