Recently Completed: Lufkin ISD Multi-Purpose Building

Shortly after the completion of Lufkin ISD's New Multi-Purpose Facility Project in August, the new multi-purpose building was awarded the "Keep Lufkin Beautiful Award". At 65, 297 SF, the facility includes:

  • A competition gymnasium with retractable and stationary seating

  • Ceiling mounted basketball goals and volleyball nets

  • Auxiliary gymnasium

  • Concessions

  • Hospitality room

  • Weight room

  • Training room

  • 11 Locker rooms

  • 2 Coaches' office suits

  • Officials' suite

  • Laundry facilities

Construction began in October 2019, funded through a $75 Million school bond package along with the new Lufkin ISD Middle School. The facility will be utilized for dance, cheer, and robotics competitions as well as sporting events such as basketball and volleyball, and school functions. In addition, the new building has been selected to host the boys' basketball and girls' volleyball regional tournaments this year.

We are proud to have Hudson Henderson, lead Architect and Project Manager of the Multi-Purpose Building on our team! After joining our firm full-time in 2013 as an Architectural Intern and Designer, he received his professional registration as an Architect for the State of Texas in 2017. When asked how he felt about the design being nominated and ultimately selected as the winner of the "Keep Lufkin Beautiful Award" he said, "As a graduate of Lufkin High School, it was a privilege to get to design this facility for my alma mater and having the opportunity to lead the design team through this process has been very exciting. To see our work recognized in this way, as well as the MANY positive reactions to the design is very rewarding!"
